Catalog Mode
Catalog mode turns your store into a catalogue: visitors browse the products, but nothing can be added to a cart. Use it for a showroom, for made-to-order work you quote by hand, or for a wholesale store where only signed-in customers may buy. Your products, orders and settings are untouched, so switching it off puts the store back exactly as it was.
How To Switch On Catalog Mode
Starting screenCanvasTheme OptionsShop, then Catalog Mode.
- Switch on Catalog Mode.
- Choose who it applies to under Applies To: Everyone, or Logged-Out Visitors so that signed-in customers keep buying as usual.
- Switch on Hide Prices if prices should not show either.
- To offer an enquiry button where Add to Cart was, fill in Enquiry Button Link: a full address, or a page in the form
{page:contact}, which keeps working if the page's address changes. The button says Ask about this product unless you change Enquiry Button Text.
What Changes While It Is On
- Add to Cart buttons, quantity boxes and the header cart disappear.
- Products cannot be added to a cart in any way, including links that try to add one directly.
- The cart and checkout pages send visitors to the shop.
- With Hide Prices on, prices are removed from product cards, product pages and every other place a price is shown.
Pitfalls
- The enquiry button does not show. Enquiry Button Link is empty.
- A signed-in customer still sees catalog mode. Applies To is set to Everyone.
