How To Remove A Demo

Every import records exactly what it created, so removal is precise: the imported items are deleted, your pre-import settings are restored, and content you built yourself is never touched. Two tools do it at different scales, Rollback for one import run and Delete Demo Data for everything a demo ever brought. Read this page before using either, because neither can be undone.

Rollback Versus Delete Demo Data

Choose the tool by what you want gone:

Rollback undoes one import run: it removes the content that run created and restores the settings that run overwrote. Use it when a run went wrong, or when you imported twice and want the second attempt gone.
Delete Demo Data removes every import of one demo at once, whichever runs brought it, and restores your pre-import settings. Use it when you are done with the demo entirely.

Both share the same protections: hand-built content is never touched, and a media file still used elsewhere on the site is kept rather than deleted, with the screen reporting how many shared files it kept.

How To Roll Back An Import

The history table lists each finalized import with its date and a content summary, and a run that has finished appears there without a page reload. Press Rollback on the row you want undone, and confirm the warning, which says plainly what will happen: imported content is deleted, previous settings are restored, and the action cannot be undone.

The same Rollback action sits on the completion screen at the end of a run, so an import you regret can be undone the moment it finishes, without visiting this tab at all.

How To Delete A Demo's Data

Press Delete Demo Data for the demo you are removing. Before anything is deleted, the screen shows a preview of what will go, counted by kind: pages, posts, heroes, headers, footers, forms, sliders, slides, top bars, media files, menus, terms and the import records themselves. Confirm, and the screen reports what was removed and how many shared media files were kept.

How To Clean Up Leftovers

If a much earlier rollback was interrupted, an import can leave orphaned items behind. Each history row carries Check for Orphaned Content, which searches for content from that import that a previous rollback left in place, and offers Clean Up Orphaned Content when it finds any. The check is read-only, so running it costs nothing.

Pitfalls

Edits made to imported pages disappear with them. Removal deletes the imported items themselves, and a demo page you have rewritten is still an imported item. Copy anything you want to keep into a page of your own before removing the demo.

Settings changed after the import are replaced by the restore. Rollback restores the settings snapshot taken before the import, so Theme Options work done since then is lost with it. Note your changes before rolling back, or export your options first from Theme Options.

A design-scoped block still appears in the reference after deletion. Deliberate: the design's blocks and content types stay registered so any content you kept goes on rendering. With no demo content left, they sit unused.
