Headings

Styled heading with optional subtitle. Supports Heading Block, Title Block, Emphasis Title, and Fancy Title types. It is shown in the block inserter as Canvas Heading and registered as canvas-core/heading.

Select the block on a page and its own settings open in the sidebar, in the panels below:

Settings

Each setting is named exactly as the block editor names it, followed by what it does and what it starts as. Where a setting carries a Shown when line, it stays hidden until that condition is met, which is the usual reason a setting looks missing from the sidebar:

  Which section-title treatment the block draws. Plain gives an undecorated heading, which is what you want when the design supplies its own rules and spacing. The rest of this panel changes with the choice.

  Which way the title and its subtitle line up. Default keeps whatever the chosen heading type and the surrounding design already do.

  Keeps the text exactly as typed. WordPress otherwise smartens punctuation, turning straight quotes into curly ones and a pair of hyphens into a dash, which is wrong for a file path, a command or a code sample.

  One-off styling for the heading text itself, such as an exact font size the theme sizes do not offer.

  A single decorative character drawn large and faint behind the heading (e.g. the section's initial). Leave empty for no ghost letter. Requires a stylesheet rule that draws it.

• Subtitle PositionDefaultEmpty

  Eyebrow mode places the subtitle span above the heading, as in intro/eyebrow section titles.

• Title Color

  A style control in the Title group of the Style tab. It has a hover state as well as a resting one.

• Title Typography

  A style control in the Title group of the Style tab.

• Subtitle Color

  A style control in the Subtitle group of the Style tab.

• Border Color

  A style control in the Border group of the Style tab.
