Page Title Breadcrumbs

Renders a breadcrumb trail (Home > Parent > Current) for the current page or post. It is shown in the block inserter as Page Title Breadcrumbs and registered as canvas-core/page-title-breadcrumbs.

Select the block on a page and its own settings open in the sidebar, in the panels below:

Settings

Each setting is named exactly as the block editor names it, followed by what it does and what it starts as. Where a setting carries a Shown when line, it stays hidden until that condition is met, which is the usual reason a setting looks missing from the sidebar:

Style

  • SeparatorDefaultEmpty

    Character drawn between crumbs. Empty keeps the theme separator.

  • Home Crumb IconDefaultEmpty

    Show the first crumb as this icon rather than the word Home. The word is kept as the link name.

Settings

  • Trail ClassesDefaultEmpty

    Full class list on the trail itself, replacing the default. A page can also set this from its Page Title box; this field is what an archive template uses, where there is no page to carry the setting.

  • Include the Section CrumbDefaultOff

    On a category, tag, author or date archive, puts the section between Home and the archive: the page a reader would step back to.

  • Section PageDefaultEmpty

    Slug of that section page. Empty uses whichever page the site has set as its posts page.

    The bare name reads better when the heading beside the trail already says what kind of archive this is.

Content

  • Section CrumbsDefaultEmpty

    Rows that sit between Home and this page, naming the section a reader would step back to. A page that fills in its own Breadcrumb Parents replaces these.

    Each row of Section Crumbs takes:

    • Label

    • URL

      Leave empty to render the crumb as plain text.

  • Current Crumb LabelDefaultEmpty

    What the last crumb says. Leave empty to name the page itself; a page can also shorten its own crumb from its Page Title box.
