Post Terms

Displays taxonomy terms (categories or tags) for the current post with text, badge, pill, tag-cloud, or inline-category styles. It is shown in the block inserter as Post Terms and registered as canvas-core/post-terms.

Select the block on a page and its own settings open in the sidebar, in the panels below:

Each setting is named exactly as the block editor names it, followed by what it does and what it starts as. Where a setting carries a Shown when line, it stays hidden until that condition is met, which is the usual reason a setting looks missing from the sidebar:

  How many terms to list. Site-wide lists take the most used first; a record's own terms keep their own order, so 1 gives the primary term a card chip needs.

  Appends how many records each term holds.

  Classes on the number beside each term, usually a muted colour so it sits behind the name.

  Classes on the list that holds the terms, for the spacing and bullet treatment the design gives it.

  Replaces the default classes on the wrapper. A sidebar tag cloud wants a bare tagcloud with no bottom margin.

  Shown when Style is "Tag Cloud" or "Inline Categories" or "Widget List"

  Which group of terms is listed, such as categories or tags. Custom groups registered by a plugin appear here too.

  What is printed between one term and the next. Include the spaces you want around it.

  Tag Cloud and Inline Categories styles always link.

  How the terms are drawn: a plain run of text for a byline, badges or pills for a card, or a stacked list for a sidebar. The rest of this panel changes with the choice.
