General SEO

Title templates, meta descriptions, and global SEO defaults.

These settings apply to the whole site, so a change here is visible on every page that uses the feature. Find them under Canvas > Seo, in the General SEO tab.

The tab sits in the rail on the left of the screen, with its own panel beside it:

This group holds the following settings:

• Title TemplateDefault%title% | %sitename%

  Tokens: %title% = page title, %1$sitename% = site name. Example: %title% | %2$sitename%

• Title SeparatorDefault|

  Character placed between the page title and site name.

• Homepage Meta TitleDefaultEmpty

  Custom meta title for the homepage. Leave blank to use the title template.

• Homepage Meta DescriptionDefaultEmpty

  Meta description shown in search results for your homepage. Aim for 120 to 160 characters.

• Auto Description Length (words)Default30

  When no manual description is set, the excerpt is trimmed to this many words.
